My Favorite Ski Fiction

If you are also having trouble accepting that the 2025-2026 ski season is over here in Colorado, let’s commiserate together. I was lucky enough to get 12 days in this season and although I’ve been saying it might end early, I still haven’t accepted it. So, as we approach spring and summer after a strange winter, I thought a roundup of my favorite ski fiction books might help ease the transition!

Shiver by Allie Reynolds

I absolutely loved this book, and I think it has a good mix of something for everyone. It was a gripping mystery with a mix of likable and unlikable characters; a glamorous, locked-in setting; a hint of nostalgia; and of course, the reason it drew me in, ski vibes and lingo.

Off Course by Julie Cook – releases August 4, 2026

Put this one on your preorder list! The combination of elite ski racer, experienced ski mountaineer, and exciting settings had me hooked, and the perfect pacing and split of romance and action kept me super invested in this book. I loved all the characters especially Asher, and felt like he and Kit had an instant connection with real chemistry. Their individual growth throughout the book (especially Kit’s), in addition to their growth as a couple, was awesome to follow, too.

One By One by Ruth Ware

Another one with a good mix of something for everyone. I read this for the first time when I was a newbie skier struggling to get down the bunny hill and I couldn’t even imagine signing up for a ski trip at that point, let alone going through some of the other things the characters did.

The Lodge by Kayla Olson

This super cute, fast-paced closed door romance had everything – an idyllic setting, realistic characters, and an interesting plot. There was a perfect mix of skiing, romance, and intrigue, and I think this would be a fun read whether or not you like skiing!

The Ski Resort by Catherine O’Connell

This was a fast-paced, bingeable thriller that I just could not put down! The main character and narrator, Greta, was a little frustrating in a very human way, but I was still rooting for her. I thought the pace, writing, and other characters were all great. This is the first book in a series of two so far, and hopefully there will be more soon!
